Port Jefferson Music Students Selected for SCMEA All-County Festival

The Port Jefferson School District is proud to announce that numerous talented student musicians have been selected to participate in this year’s Suffolk County Music Educators' Association (SCMEA) All-County Festival, a distinguished honor recognizing musical excellence and dedication.

In Division 1 (Grades 5/6), the following students were selected: Talia Affronti, Ryker Cerar, Oliver Chesler, Alexa Fallon, Connor Frangis, Colette Miller, Ava Murdocco, Edmund Nida, Vivian Russo, Annika Schenke, Addison Schmettan, Leah Thorne, Andrew Turner, and Maya von Oiste.

In Division 2 (Grades 7/8), honorees include: Penelope Lago, Tatum Lastra, Alexandru Pittinsky, and Blake Welischar.

In Division 3 (Grades 9/10), the selected students are: Eve Cruz, Milo Gugliucci, Patrick Hutchinson, Klea Mehmeti, Iris Park, Luke Peterson, Maxwell Quartararo, Dylan Sproul, and Leilani von Oiste.

These students were chosen through a rigorous audition process and will have the opportunity to perform alongside other top young musicians from across Suffolk County, culminating in a festival concert that showcases their hard work and musical achievement. In addition to student recognition, Port Jefferson Elementary School music teacher Ms. Laurel Zimlinghaus served as a festival chairperson for this year’s SCMEA Division 2 East Band, demonstrating the district’s continued leadership and commitment to music education.
