Earl L. Vandermeulen High School sport event management students recently engaged in an immersive field trip to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
“Our students learned about various professional sports organization careers from New York Jets staff,” Port Jefferson School District 6–12 Associate Principal Adam Sherrard said. “The class also had the opportunity to tour the remarkable facility.”
MetLife Stadium opened in 2010 and is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets football teams. With a capacity of 82,500, it is the largest venue in the National Football League. According to the stadium’s website, the venue has hosted over 600 major events and 3,000 special events. These include Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014; matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and 2016 Copa América Centenario; WrestleManias 29 and 35 and numerous college football games, international soccer matches and concerts.
