The Port Jefferson School District joined the nationwide call-to-action dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among the school community when it participated in the Sandy Hook Promise’s Start With Hello Week (Sept. 19–23).

With daily themes in all three schools, including meet and greets to say hello to someone in school that a student does not yet know, random acts of kindness and sharing appreciation, students and staff increased their inclusivity and empathy with their classmates and showed that there is always hope and change for the future.

During Wear Green Wednesday, Port Jefferson students and staff wore a sea of green as a symbol of solidarity with Sandy Hook Promise. The Port Jefferson School District takes pride in the promise pledges to keep the spirit going throughout the year.
