The Port Jefferson School District is gearing up for the new school year and staff and educators joined in the first of two Superintendent’s Conference Days on Aug. 30. Superintendent of Schools Mrs. Jessica Schmettan and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Robert Neidig welcomed new staff, presented facility and technology updates and introduced staff to the national awareness campaign Stop the Bleed led by members of the Port Jefferson Emergency Medical Services.

In addition to professional development opportunities, a highlight of the program was guest speaker Mr. Eric Kussin, a professional sports executive and mental health advocate who spoke on normalizing mental health conversations and best practices for working through emotional uncertainties.
