The Port Jefferson School District is pleased to announce that Mr. John Ruggero has been named principal at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School. Before joining the Port Jefferson School District, Mr. Ruggero most recently served as the assistant principal at Robert Moses Middle School in the North Babylon School District, where he served since 2018. Prior to that position, he served as an elementary principal in the Sachem School District. His professional background also includes 12 years of teaching experience in mathematics at the middle and high school level in the Sachem, William Floyd and Wyandanch school districts. He is also an active head coach for the Center Moriches Blue Devils lacrosse team and has held coaching positions in football, baseball, softball and lacrosse for numerous years.

Mr. Ruggero earned a Master of Science in education from Dowling College, where he also received dual advanced certification in school building leadership and school district leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from SUNY Old Westbury.
