Since 2006, the Port Jefferson School District has consistently demonstrated excellence in music education, earning the admiration of the NAMM Foundation and educators nationwide. One of the examples of how Port Jefferson fosters love and excellence in music is the Instrumental Petting Zoo. This engaging event aimed at igniting musical passion among its students allows second-grade students to explore and experiment with various musical instruments, guided by high school student mentors.
The Instrumental Petting Zoo provided a hands-on learning experience and fostered intergenerational connections within the Port Jefferson School District community.
