Port Jefferson Middle School

About Our School

The Middle School in Port Jefferson is dedicated to providing a comprehensive program for its students. Academics are balanced with the social, emotional, and physical needs of the adolescent. Teachers and administrators work together to provide a learning environment that promotes high academic standards, intellectual growth, and a climate in which students feel secure, understood and accepted - helping them make the transition from elementary to high school.

In an effort to provide an academic program that is accessible to all of our students in terms of both scope and rigor, we provide accelerated courses in mathematics and science for students who demonstrate aptitude, as well as enrichment opportunities for students who need extra support.  Students also benefit from a truly comprehensive music and arts program, inclusive of our family and consumer science and technology courses.

Co-Curricular Clubs & Activities

Middle School co-curricular activities include: STEM Club, 6th Grade Intramurals, Drama Club, Environmental Club, Mathletes, National Junior Honor Society, Science Olympiad, Student Council, Yearbook, Newspaper, and the Art Club.

In addition, the Middle School has an active Student Council that sponsors food drives, fundraisers, intergenerational projects, and recreational activities.
