Students, teachers, administrators and support staff throughout the Port Jefferson School District were off to a bright start for the first day of school on Thursday, Sept. 7.
At Edna Louise Spear Elementary School students were greeted by Principal Amy Laverty and Assistant Principal Brianne Antenucci, teachers and building staff members. Students at Port Jefferson Middle School and Earl L. Vandermeulen High School were welcomed back by Middle School Principal Mr. Brian Walker, High School Principal Mr. John Ruggero and Assistant Principal Ms. Kim Braha. Students were also greeted by faculty and staff, and got acquainted with new teachers, classmates, routines and expectations.
From pre-kindergarten students meeting new friends, first graders learning and navigating Google classroom with technology teacher Mr. Butera, fifth graders selecting books to read, Middle School students playing getting to know you Jenga games, and French language students learning the basics with teacher Heather Marshak, it was a great start to the new school year.
With school community pride, Port Jefferson’s student-leaders are ready to embark on a successful academic year. Together, teachers and students will discover, explore, make new friends and create joyful memories.
