Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s track and field athlete Alexa Jacobs was recently featured on “Newsday's Top 50 Long Island girls track and field athletes for 2025”.
Alexa Jacobs, a junior, won the New York State Division II Championship in the 100-meter dash in June. She was ranked fifth in the event throughout New York State with a personal best time of 11.85. She was also tenth in the state with a 24.83 200-meter dash.
“Alexa had an incredible year in 2024 and is absolutely deserving of this recognition,” said Adam Sherrard, Port Jefferson School District Director of Health, Physical Education, Athletics and Nursing. “I am excited to see what she can do this year.”
