Port Jefferson School District Welcomes Two New APs

The Port Jefferson School District is pleased to welcome Brianne Antenucci and Kim Braha, our two new assistant principals to our schools.

Ms. Antenucci will be working at our Elementary School alongside principal Mrs. Amy Laverty. Ms. Antenucci earned a Master of Arts in elementary education from Quinnipiac University and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology. She holds an educational leadership advanced graduate certificate as part of the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association Honors Cohort from Stony Brook University. She was most recently employed as an administrative intern in the William Floyd School District where she worked with the leadership team, vertically aligned English language arts and math curriculum across elementary buildings, provided summer school teachers with curriculum, and developed and implemented a schoolwide reading incentive program. Ms. Antenucci was also an assistant program director and a classroom teacher at William Floyd School District.

Ms. Braha will be working at our Middle School and High School alongside principals Mr. Brian Walker and Mr. John Ruggero. Ms. Braha earned a Master of Arts in English literature at the University of Westminster and a Masters of Arts in English Language Arts from Dowling College. She earned her undergraduate degree in English literature from SUNY New Paltz. She also received her certification in educational leadership from Stony Brook University at both the school district level as well as the school building level. She served as an assistant principal at BOCES regional summer school in 2022, has been an English Language Arts teacher in Northport High School where she also served as a building chairperson for seven years. Ms. Braha brings a wealth of skills to the District such as professional development, conflict resolution, communication, mental health education and student empowerment opportunities.

“We are pleased to have Ms. Antenucci and Ms. Braha as part of our administrative team,” Superintendent of Schools Mrs. Jessica Schmettan said. “The enthusiasm and proactive strategies in engaging students that they bring to Port Jefferson will serve our school community well. We look forward to their commitment to our students and wish them much success in their new roles.”
