Working to promote a culture of inclusion and connectedness, students and staff throughout the Port Jefferson School District participated in Sandy Hook Promise’s Start With Hello Week (Sept. 18–22). At the elementary school events included Meet and Greet Monday, Thank Someone Tuesday, Wear Green Wednesday as a symbol of solidarity with Sandy Hook Promise, Trusted Adult Thursday, and Moving Forward Fri-Yay, which promoted keeping the Start With Hello spirit throughout the school year.
The middle school and high school encouraged students to say hello to someone in school that they did not yet know, random acts of kindness, sharing appreciation, wearing Royal colors to support one another, and increasing their inclusivity and empathy with their classmates to show that there is always hope and change for the future.
The Port Jefferson School District takes pride in the pledges to keep the spirit going throughout the year.
