Port Jefferson Middle School student Max Gordon is gearing up to give back to the world.

An eighth grader, Max plays basketball, lacrosse and soccer. One day, Max saw an item on social media that caught his eye and he wanted to get involved in its mission. He took it upon himself to find out more about a nonprofit organization, Game Changers, that collects and distributes gently used sports equipment to kids in need both locally and globally. He took his idea to Port Jefferson School District Athletic Director Mr. Adam Sherrard and another Game Changer was born.

Max is collecting gently used items to donate to Game Changers and is seeking the school community’s help. Donations can be dropped off at the gym lobby at Port Jefferson High School/Middle School and Edna Louise Spear Elementary. He even decorated a box in aptly named A Royal Donation.”

Will he go further with his altruistic ways? “I have nothing planned yet, but I would like to do more events like this,” Max said.
